Youth Ministry

FCC Youth Group

Youth Service Motto: “Love the Church, Serve the Church”

Youth Vision:
At FCC, children are a blessing from the Lord. We are called as parents to teach and train our children. The Youth Ministry at FCC is designed to be a compliment for what goes on in the home. We assist parents by helping teach their youth to see the greatness of our God! We desire to see our boys and girls become the young men and women that God is calling them to be.

We desire to be a resource for both parents and youth. We do this through Sunday School, discipleship, fellowship, service projects, and mission trips. The preaching and teaching of God’s Word is incorporated into everything that we do so that youth are always coming into contact with the Word of God. We also incorporate times of worship, prayer and testimonies into our activities and weekly meetings. We do all this in the hope that the next generation would know God. (Psalm 78:6)

Youth Sunday School
Youth Sunday School meets in room 102 from 10:00 to 10:45 on Sunday mornings. The class is taught by the Slones and has guest teachers from time to time. In the past we have done studies on the book of 1 John and Philippians.

Youth Sunday School is for 7th through 12th grade. Parents have the ability to decide at what grade level they would like to move their student into the youth classroom. We also encourage youth who are interested to attend the adult class with their parents.

Youth Fellowship Group
Youth Fellowship Group meets the first and third Sunday of the month from 5:30 to 8:30, in church members’ homes. This is a time of fellowship around the Word. We spend time snacking and fellowship and then have worship, teaching, and discussion. We close with small group prayer and accountability.

Guys/Girls Studies
Throughout the year we do different gender-specific groups. Currently the young men are meeting and reading through Worldliness by C.J Mahaney. The young women usually meet over the summer for a study. In the past we have done Lies Young Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Dana Gresh, and A Young Woman After God’s Own Heart by Elisabeth George.

Service Projects
The youth are actively involved in “loving and serving the church” through service efforts at members’ homes, at the Church and in the near future at City Union Mission. The youth have developed a great deal of skills in painting, sheet-rocking, cleaning, moving, and organizing. We also participated in Operation Christmas Child this past Christmas.

Fellowship Activities
Fellowship activities for the youth include EDGE gymnastics nights, movie nights, and more.

Youth Mission Trip
The youth have taken two mission trips to Parkway Community Church in Michigan. They have learned about sharing the Gospel, run a block party, and did much needed work on the church and parsonage. Mission trips are also a focused time of Bible study and spiritual growth.

Annual Parents Meeting
This meeting is held at the beginning of each calendar year for parents and youth to fill out paperwork, lay out our vision for the year and to discuss ideas and implement changes.

A.W.A.N.A.
There is an Awana program that meets at the church where you can participate in the Junior Varsity or Varsity clubs. This program begins at 7:00 pm in Room 103 every other Wed evenings (September through May). Please contact Leah and Elliot Houghton for more information about this ministry.
